Hard times for Recruiters
Right now, the recruitment industry is suffering in the recession; jobs are at risk, plus recruiters are under a huge amount of pressure to exceed their large KPI targets and deliver an apparently unachievable amount of revenue for their employers. Of course, many employers are in survival mode, and are only concerned with their bottom-line profits. They'll do whatever it takes to keep their company profitable - which may include job cuts, salary cuts, changes to commission structures, cancelling bonuses, lowering staff hours, and many other solutions. All this can make for a very pressured work environment for the recruiter, where the focus ends up being on pure volume, as opposed to the delivery of quality-based results.
Clients are demanding excellent value for money In the good years, volume may have been enough to ensure results - but right now, the industry is changing, with neither clients or candidates prepared to accept anything less than a very high level of service in return for their time and commitment.
